I’m going to be revamping the this blog as well as the other blogs on this site, get them to what I had originally been thinking when I made the Alaskan Pagan Network website.

Harvet apple basketsHarvest has drawn to a close and the feasts have all been eaten, leaving us on the apex between Samhain and Yule. I hope that everyone had a bountiful harvest season and will enjoy a blessed Yule.

black cat and pumpkinSamhain is almost here, are you ready for it? There is snow on the ground here in Alaska, making bonfires for Samhain particularly welcome.

My plan for this Samhain is rather mundane, I intend to stay home and have a quiet private ritual, then get to work on my NaNoWriMo project.

Should be great fun.

What are your plans? Are you going to be doing anything special?  Anyone else diving into NaNoWriMo this year?

I have been so lousy about keeping at the spell for weight loss.  Life just seemed to leave no time for spell crafting this week, trying to diet was even worse.  But, I am going to keep work on the crafting of the spell and will just put it to the test *after* it has been figured out rather than as I am working on it.

Something like that is a bit more complex than my normal spells because normally the spells take just a few minutes to cast and so I can easily wing it as I go along, this is a long term work so I think I better design out a scheme for it and then test it out rather than winging it on the fly like I would for a quicker to cast spell.

I am working on designing a spell for weight loss, which I will be testing out over the next couple of weeks as the moon wanes. I will let you know the results, and the spell I used, when I have finished the spell. That will give you a couple of weeks to get things together if you want to give the spell a try during the next waning phase of the moon.

I would tell you the spell now, but when I create spells they are usually done on a “This seems right…” impulse feeling that means that while I may start with a basic idea for what I want, it evolves and changes slightly based on instinctive understanding for how my connection to magic works for me. That being said, if you ever see a spell I have written that seems like it is not right to you, change it! What I present works for me, but we are all different and have different feels for what’s right and what works. Trust your instincts every time and your magic will work all the better for it.

lunareclipse.gif I hope that you all got to see the Lunar Eclipse that occurred very early Tuesday morning, I heard about it at the last moment and then fell asleep before it occurred. (Picture is not of the Alaskan Lunar Eclipse)

I really wish I had found out with more advance notice that this was going to be happening, but the past few months have been insane so I did not get a chance to keep up on anything like this. Really irritating since I can’t recall when the last lunar eclipse was visible from Alaska.

I begin this blog with a simple dedication and blog blessing spell presented as the Sun rises.

May this blog be of service to those who would find it and wish to gain from the content here-in, and may it evade those who would look on it with misunderstanding or anger for what it contains.

Herein shall there be information on magic and things magical. Enter with open heart and mind and you shall find enchantment and magic within, spells to aid you, prayers to gods of old and information on things magical and mythological.

Sabbats and Esbats, those days held sacred to those who understand magic, shall be discussed. Magic, be it drawn from the legends of history or that of novels and other sources of entertainment, shall be examined and discussed. Spells and talismans and charms will be explained and their crafting discussed. Herbs will be explored and information on planting, harvest and use provided.

This blog shall contain the Secrets of the Sun and information gleaned in the Shadows of the Moon. Wands and brooms and all things magical shall be explored and discussed. There will be items that will, from time to time, be sponsored or blatantly advertised, and while I promise that I shall strive to keep such things from distracting from the usefulness and enjoyment of this blog, I can not maintain this site without some assistance to pay for the costs that such a site incurs. I ask that you forgive the appearance of sponsored posts and advertisements as being a necessity to my ability to bring you the best information I am capable of.

So, if you desire to learn more, to discover what possibilities there are in looking for the magical in every day, then join me and together we shall learn.

Well met, and welcome to the Alaskan Pagan Network’s Book of Shadows.
